Located on the main floor of the historic space, PARISH RESTAURANT serves a variety of Southern inspired dishes with modern twists, alongside a classic fully stocked raw bar, six nights a week. Saturdays and Sundays boasts an impressive comfort food inspired brunch.
Guests arrive via complimentary valet, spacious street parking or a self park garage and enter a casual relaxed atmosphere that includes a classic walnut and zinc bar, centered by a raw bar, along with a spacious outdoor dining area. All dishes pull from the Southern cuisines that blend French, Spanish, French Caribbean and African flavors.
With a passion for food and all things pure and local, nationally acclaimed Chef Nick Melvin, formerly of The Farmhouse at Serenbe, creates New Orleans-inspired dishes with modern influences at PARISH. A New Orleans native, he utilizes the local and farm-to-table philosophies that PARISH embraces as he brings the flavors of his hometown back to Atlanta.
Dishes such as Mock Turtle Soup with Egg Salad and Oyster Gratin epitomize his blending of the character, taste and love of the Crescent City with local Georgia flair. He also emphasizes local farmers through weekly changing appetizers and entrées showcasing a different Georgia farmer. The mainstay Farmer’s Market Basket of seasonal vegetables served over local buttermilk grits or spoon bread anchors the menu throughout the year. Melvin’s addition of “PARISH Favorites” features seven appetizers and salads and seven entrées, and his interactive wine tastings and food samplings enliven the Market and bring the true spirit of PARISH to the forefront.
Prior to taking the helm at PARISH, Melvin was the executive chef at the Farmhouse at Serenbe. His approach to local, sustainable and organic farming and cooking has been featured nationally in the New York Times and on the Travel Channel, as well as locally in The Atlantan. Melvin began his culinary career with Concentrics Restaurants as a sous chef, working at Murphy’s, Room at TWELVE and TAP.
Melvin graduated from Le Cordon Bleu at Scottsdale Culinary Institute in 2003, during which time he held an externship at Hotel Jerome in Aspen, Colo., and Dickie Brennan’s Steakhouse in New Orleans, La. He perfected his culinary skills while staging with Chef Susan Spicer at New Orleans’ Bayonna and Frank Stitt of Highlands Bar and Grill in Birmingham, Ala. Born and raised in New Orleans, Melvin quickly developed a love and appreciation for the wonderful food of the Crescent City. He spent many afternoons cooking with his mother, who first introduced him to Alice Waters’ principles of using fresh and local ingredients in cooking.
Classically trained at the French Culinary Institute, St. Hilaire began baking through various stints in New York City’s finest restaurants. A native of New Hampshire, St. Hilaire prides himself in sourcing the freshest ingredients and working them into breads and baked goods. A true artisan, St. Hilaire worked at the acclaimed Bouley Bakery and Payard’s Patisserie and Bistro where he turned out flaky croissants, puff pastries and loafs of fresh sourdough among other fresh delectables. Further South, in Atlanta, St. Hilaire turned his love of baking into a wholesale bread company where he could be found perfecting favorites such as Apple Sourdough and Pecan Raisin and making deliveries to local restaurants and Chefs. St Hilarie looks forward to offering fresh baked organic wares such as breads, sweet nibbles and hearty muffins throughout the day at The Market at Parish and classic desserts with a focus on seasonality at Parish Restaurant. St. Hilaire won the Gold Medal in the Southern Pastry Classic in 2000 and shortly thereafter received the critics award as one of the best new chefs in the area, earning him the title of Best New American Chef in Atlanta in from Bon Appetit magazine in 2002.

PARISH is located in the heart of Inman Park in a historical Terminal Building built in 1890. The only remaining structure from an old pipe factory building had been abandoned for some time. With respect to the building’s fundamental spirit, Concentrics’ Bob Amick and Todd Rushing have restored the building to its original grandeur allowing patrons to relish the antiquated structure as they take in the organically funky vibe found throughout PARISH. The space features fully-restored crown moldings, antique Parisian sconces, red murano chandeliers, vaulted interior brick arches, a walnut and zinc bar, the original tin ceiling, refurbished windows, original exposed brick, a classic raw bar and a Vermont slate roof. A spacious outdoor dining area offers patrons an alfresco escape. Each aspect of PARISH will exude the same comfortable casualness associated with the laid back culture of the South. Good food at moderate prices, quality company and comforting original rustic design makes PARISH a destination.

The Tradition of Mardi Gras King Cakes:
The King Cake is believed to have originated in France around the 12th century to celebrate the coming of the three wise men bearing gifts twelve days after Christmas calling it the Feast of the epiphany, Twelfth Night, or King`s Day. In Louisiana, Twelfth Night also signifies the beginning of the carnival season which ends with Mardi Gras Day. A small plastic baby is baked into the cake to symbolize the Christ Child. The person who gets the baby is expected to carry on the carnival festivities by hosting the next King Cake party! King Cakes are decorated in the traditional Mardi Gras colors; gold (for power), green (for faith) and purple (for justice).
